Periodontic is the branch of dentistry that studies and prevents diseases of the tissues around the tooth (periodontium). The periodontium is formed by the union of 4 structures, gingiva, alveolar bone, periodontal ligament and cementum, and that together, provides dental support.
PERIODONTAL DISEASE is an inflammatory pathology caused by plaque, tartar or immune mediated diseases that affects the fibers that connect the root of the tooth to the alveolar bone.
Prophylactic Periodontal Treatment
consists of 4 basic steps
Intraoral Radiograph
It allows to visualize the internal structures of the tooth such as the pulp canal and roots, helping in the diagnosis of diseases and expanding the possibilities of treatments for animals.
Calculus Scaling
Performed with an ultrasonic device that removes, through high vibration and water jets, all the bacterial plaque, food residues and substances that lodge on the tooth surface and below the gum line.
Enamel Polishing
Used to restore the smooth surface of enamel. It is known that polished tooth surfaces are essential for debris, plaque and pigments to not accumulate and interfere with the aesthetics and integrity of the surface.
Fluoride Application
It has the objective of slowing the bacterial adherence in progression in the oral cavity, or, to help replace the superficial layer removed during the prophylaxis procedure. In addition, assists on the narrowing of the dentin channels, decreasing post-treatment sensitivity.
